As a follow-up and continuation of the HMSC Aging Wisely presentations in 2023 on topics such as inheritance, wills, and power of attorney, this focus group welcomes all members who want or need to discuss issues related to end of life. Some may have questions, some may have experiences to share, and some may have resources that can be added to the HMSC website.
The group will be especially for those who have families or assets in a country outside Japan as well as inside Japan. In addition to addressing practical matters, there will be emphasis on how members of HMSC can support one another, both individuals and families, during periods of dying, death, and bereavement.
The meetings will generally be via Zoom facilitated by CA Edington with Bob Gettings as the Zoom host. The first meeting will be on April 9th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The Zoom link will be sent out to all HMSC members close to the focus group meeting date. Those who come can decide how often to meet (which could be once a month or more often) and what day/time are best for everyone. In- person meetings are also a possibility.
The format that people prefer will be discussed at this first meeting. One possibility is to have a particular topic each time for about an hour, then be open to questions and shared experiences for another 30 minutes. HMSC members may join any time they’re able to.
