Summary
This was the launch of the latest series of chats. The chat topic was intended to be a follow up of the administrative scrivener Morikoshi's talk on the Aging Wisely theme, with a focus on funerals and living wills. The lively session attended by 4of us covered the possibilities for where people scatter their ashes and our particular wishes, the US military choice of burial at sea, and alternatives to cremation and burial. We discussed our feelings regarding family cemetery plots back home and whether we would actually use them in light of the cost. The significance of having a grave and attitudes towards having our own grave was another line of discussion. Details of cat funerals also entered the conversation. Discussion about our experiences of attending family funerals in Japan, as well as final wishes, were kept rather light and straight forward.Three members plus the moderator were in attendance for the chat.
