From the moderator: Let’s talk about the whole range of issues related to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics starting with the selection of Tokyo 12 years ago and ending this week with the closing ceremony. We can also talk about the upcoming Paralympics. Possible topics to discuss are the following: the effect of the pandemic on the games; Individual sporting events; COVID-19 statistics and prediction about a surge; our prediction and expectations for a post-Olympic Japan and/or any other topic of your choice.
Let’s enjoy an open-ended discussion! Participants are encouraged to raise topics distantly related to the Olympics or even unrelated. Our goal is to achieve a lively discussion.

Summary
In this Let's Chat we had two Americans and one Japanese besides the moderator and host. Although the group was small we had a lively discussion about the sports that we enjoyed watching on TV (no one watched the Sapporo events in person) and the surprises in certain sports. We also spent time talking about mental health and the increasing willingness of athletes to discuss the pressure involved in participating in the Olympics.
This was the third and last let’s chat session led by Stuart and Peggy in this HMSC experiment. We had decided in May to do three months of Let’s Chat events and then reassess. During our feedback session today everybody expressed a positive feeling about continuing with the format (starting with a specific topic and letting conversation flow). Everybody also expressed the desire to continue with Let’s Chat which will be an especially attractive opportunity for social interaction in the winter months.
